OrbLive is the streaming media application developed by Orb Networks for iPhone and iPod Touch. With this app, you can stream all your media, no need to sync. This app plays live TV, Internet TV, and webcams on your iPhone or iPod Touch.

“TV on the iPhone is now real,” said Joe Costello, CEO of Orb Networks. “Steve Jobs may think that buying shows from iTunes is the same as watching TV, but iPhone users know better. When the NBA playoffs are on, you want to see the game, live, wherever you are. Free.”

Orb pulls files off your Mac and streams them to any device with an app or web browser capable of accessing the Orb interface. From there you can stream music, video files, and if you have a TV tuner card, live TV. According to Orb Networks, all media streaming is optimized so it works great over WiFi, AT&T, O2, and Vodafone.

NetBlender has created a Software Development Kit (SDK) called "BD Touch" which aims at enhancing the capabilities of BD Live by enabling the Apple iPod and iPhone to have a two-way communication. BD Touch uses the BD Live network connection built into Blu-ray players and the Wi-Fi connection on the iPhone to connect the devices.

BD Touch applications can use geolocation, the iPhone's motion sensors and keyboard input. The video, audio, text and player commands can be transferred to the BD player and the handheld devices could act as a remote for it. They can also be used to store movies and surf the Internet for content related to the movie that is playing.

Apple has announced a price drop of the 1gb iPod shuffle to only $49 US. I think that this is great news for people wanting an iPod but not having 10's of 1000's of songs or not wanting to have to spend to much.

Apple have also announced a 2gb iPod shuffle for those with a bit more music to listen to. The 2gb model will retail for $69 US.

In other iPod related news, iTunes is now an official partner of American Idol. iTunes will have exclusive rights to the songs performed by the final 24 finalists. You will be allowed to purchase semifinalist songs starting this week for 99 cents, and videos of their performances will be available for $1.99 starting March 11.
